BiSN, the global leader in innovative downhole sealing solutions, has won the Outstanding Innovation award at the inaugural Decom North Sea Awards.
Hosted by Decom North Sea the evening prior to the annual Decom Offshore Conference, winners were announced at the awards ceremony and dinner on Tuesday May 22 in Aberdeen.
The Outstanding Innovation category recognises a company that has developed an innovative solution to a late life or decommissioning problem or project, which has brought forward tangible results. BiSN was awarded the title in recognition of its game-changing technology, Wel-lok™, which can be deployed during well and rigless well abandonment.
Commenting on the win, Paul Carragher, BiSN chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to be recognised as providing value to the Late Life and Decommissioning sector. It is an honour to receive this award, made all the more special coming off the back of our double award win at the recent Offshore Achievement Awards.
“Our well sealant technology, Wel-lok™ technology drastically reduces the rig time needed to complete well abandonments (P&A) and interventions through the use of thermite heaters to melt bismuth-based alloys. It has opened up new possibilities for the decommissioning sector, fundamentally changing the way downhole sealing is carried out. This is a great moment for us and our heartfelt thanks go to our hard-working team at our bases in Warrington and Houston.”
BiSN was recognised at the Offshore Achievement Awards earlier this year, winning both the Great Company-SME and Innovator accolades. The company also continues to make its mark globally, carrying out work in the Norwegian North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, North America and Angola.
Established in 2010, BiSN operates manufacturing and assembly facilities in both Warrington, UK and Houston, USA. With a focus on disruptive technology research and development, the company also undertakes specialist alloy development from its own UK-based laboratory.
