Celebrating a decade with BiSN

Matt Naylor – BiSN Lead Engineer

This month marks a full decade since I joined BiSN, and as I reflect on the journey, I’m filled with appreciation for how far we’ve come both as a company and in my own career.

I started back in March 2015 as a Design and Project Engineer, coming into the oil and gas industry with no prior experience and only a basic understanding of how an oil well actually worked. What I did bring was a curiosity to learn, a willingness to take on new challenges, and a drive to be part of something innovative.

BiSN at that time was still in its early stages, a small but ambitious team based in the UK, with a bold vision to revolutionize well sealing using bismuth alloys. I embraced this opportunity, and not long after, I relocated to Houston, full-time to work more closely with other experienced engineers and immerse myself in the industry.

That move was a turning point. I had the opportunity to directly interface with more clients, lead testing programs, and help refine and expand BiSN’s technology into new markets. Each project brought new lessons, and every success felt like a shared victory for our growing team.

“Over the last 10 years, I’ve seen BiSN grow from a single-location company with around 10 employees, to a global operation with over 120 people worldwide, delivering groundbreaking well intervention solutions across multiple continents. It’s been incredible to witness and be a part of that transformation.“

Personally, I’ve had the chance to grow right alongside the company – taking on new challenges, developing new products, and evolving in my role to now serve as Lead Engineer. BiSN has always encouraged innovation and supported personal development, which has made this journey not just professionally rewarding, but genuinely fulfilling.

Looking back, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, and even more excited about what’s to come with new technologies on the horizon and new markets to serve.
