Record year for Field Deployments

Over the course of 2019, BiSN continued to grow at a record pace. While continuing to work with many of our existing customers, we also worked with several new clients in 2019 and expanded to some new regions as well. In all, we had the pleasure of working with a dozen new clients in 2019 spread over 4 new geographical regions.

Well abandonment continued to be one of our key areas. The year started with the completion of a multi-well P&A campaign on a remote island in Australia, one that had begun in late 2018. An additional well abandonment was conducted to eliminate Bradenhead pressure in the DJ Basin. Q4 saw the startup of another multi-well P&A campaign in Australia, this one conducted from an offshore platform.

2019 saw its fair share of interventions as well with 5 total deployments of the Wel-lok M2M WSO™ (Water Shut Off) tool. The first 2 runs of the year took place from a LWIV (Light Well Intervention Vessel) in offshore Angola, followed by the first deployment of a WSO tool in the UK North Sea. The final 2 WSO deployments took place from a TLP, also in offshore Angola. In addition to the WSO tools, BiSN also experienced 3 firsts with 1 deployment. The first Wel-lok M2M Perf-lok™ was deployed in Bakersfield, California to isolate a perf tunnel in a steam injection well. Not only was this the first Perf-lok run and the first deployment in California, it was also the first field deployed tool to be milled out after setting.

Over the past few years, BiSN has run many abandonment and intervention tools, but not until 2019 had a completion tool utilizing the Wel-lok M2M technology been deployed. The Wel-lok M2M TDAP™ was first developed in conjunction with one of our partners several years ago but had not been commercially deployed. That changed in early Q2 2019 when an operator ran 10 of them as part of their casing program on a new drill pad. These were followed by 5 more deployments in December by another operator who has made the TDAP a part of his standard casing program going forward.

As you can see it was quite a year for all of us at BiSN. We could not have done this without the support of our customers and dedication to excellence from our amazing staff. But it is time to close the doors on 2019 and welcome in a new year. Thank you to all of you and here is to a safe and happy 2020.
